Merit:



I added the leaf foliage tool compares to just the normal drawing tool, this as a result enhances this panel as it makes it more realistic. The foliage tool adds actual leave images onto the trees this helps develop the comic to be high quality as well. This makes the story more interactive and exiting to read,







I have decided to change from white text box to a light purple text box. I have manipulated the text boxes to fit within the sci fi genre as well as fitting into my colour scheme. This as a result helps enhance my comic as its makes it all coherent and appealing.







Here I have changed the background of my panel from plain white to blue. I have manipulated the panel as I feel it not only links directly to the sci-fi genre it also likes to the comic colour scheme of blue. This helps make the comic look appealing and interesting to the readers.






Here I have changed from normal plain text to have a fun blue comic font. I have manipulated my font in order to help develop the storyline and narrative. This font also helps the action word stand out within my comic and helps make the text more exciting and interesting to readers.








My Flesch reading scale is 70-80 which is estimated at 7th grade, this means that my age for the reading scale is roughly aged 13-14. This age range is perfect for my comic as my target audience is aged 12-15 and as a result the script being rated aged 13-14 fits perfectly for my cosmic and as a result helps aim my comic at my target audience.

















To conclude this shows that on the whole my comics manipulations were effective and made the comic easier to understand, engaging and suitable for my target audience. It also shows that the manipulations that I have made allows readers to understand the comic which makes it appealing and engaging for the reader. This as a result makes my comics more likely to be bought and read by my target audience. 







Distinction:

My chosen genre is sci fi with a sub genre of action and adventure. The sci fi genre allows me to explore a world that includes aliens, spaceships and mass destruction which is otherworldly. My sub genre of action and adventure perfectly links to science fiction as this allows my characters to explore the sci fi world and fight crime as well, this excites and intrigues the audience. My Target audience is kids/teenagers aged 12-15,  its inclusive of all races and religions and doesn't discriminate, targeted at kids who enjoy comics especially thrilling comics.

One key convention of comic is incorporating costumes for a character, this is important because it enhances the character which allows for character development. The costume shows of a characters personality before they even speak it allows readers to judge characters based off their looks, which as a result allows them to fully understand who the character is and how they express themself. My character has taken inspiration from Black Widow who is a strong female super hero from the marvel comics, she wears a tight black suit this helps to express herself as a confident hero that is powerful. Due to the positive heroic connotations of her costume I have decided to choose the same tight black outfit for my main character Sophie, as a result she can be expressed as a confident strong hero that is powerful. I chose for the costume to be black not only because its the same as Black Widow but also so that her purple alien skin would be the main focus of herself as she is the only one left of her kind.

Another key convention of comics is incorporating panelling for the comic layout, this is important as panelling helps to enhance the narrative as key moments can be highlighted and it can also help with the aesthetic which can help make the comic look high quality. The panelling I have taken inspiration from is … this is because they have used a simple yet effective three long panel strips to one page, I felt this was effective as it helps with narrative development as it moves the story along as well as getting a wide view of what’s happening within each panel which allows readers too fully understand and read between the lines of the comic. Due to these positive aspects of a three panel page layout I decided to use it within my comic when they land in the new planet and see the destruction as I feel its effective and appealing to help with storyline progression.

Another key convention of comics is action words and the chosen font used within the comics, this is important as it helps to emphasise and enhance the action happening within the panel, it can also help with the aesthetic of the comic and linking to the comics genre and colour scheme. The action word and font I have taken inspiration from is … this is because they have used an effective font to enhance their storyline within their comic. Their chosen font highlights key moments within the panel while making it look appealing to the readers. They have used a light blue colour for their action words this as a result helps link to their colour scheme. I have chosen to use the same light blue colour as it perfectly links to my sci-fi genre and the colour scheme as I have used light blue to show signs of bravery and empathy within my comic and as a result it will look effective and appealing to help.

Another key convention of comics is shot types, this is important as it allows for character development as you can clearly see reactions and feelings which allows the readers to sympathise with the character and makes them believe in the comic. This shot type is an extreme close up which allows you to see the facial expressions of face extremely close. I got inspiration to use this in my panel from the comic Uncanny X-men this is because I felt it was very effective to not only enhance the storyline but also develop character, as a result have decided to use and extreme close up shot type for my main character as it helps my readers connect with the character as well as sympathising with her emotions which makes it more realistic from reader. 






To conclude the target audience feedback shows that my comics manipulations were is easily readable and interesting for my audience. The feedback suggests that my comics manipulations were was entertaining and easy to follow as I had an engaging storyline and as a result people has said that they would want to read more of this comic series. Furthermore, this shows that the images as well as the genre was easy to follow for the reader and made it more engaging to read by conforming to the genre through the narrative as well as the images and characters. Overall the feedback suggests it’s highly engaging and visually appealing making it great for my target audience as they can easily understand and be highly engaged.

  Title - The Adventures through Space of Sophie and Spike  Comic - I have chosen to make a comic instead of a graphic novel. One reason why I have chosen to create a comic is due to my target audience of 12-15 as having less words and more pictures is more likely to keep my audience entertained and engaged. This is because they will be visually aided and will be able to get a wider understanding of the comic through the images rather than just words.
